Formerly a sub-station for Bolton County Borough, Crompton Way was absorbed into the new Greater Manchester Fire Service in 1974 as station B21. Since then it has been renamed Bolton North and renumbered W51.
After 1974, most stations had Fords at sometime,
with OVU843R allocated here.

many moorland fires that occur in this area.

BA Tender K128XRJ spent most of its life at
Bolton North before moving to Atherton for the final few months.
It was seen at a 6 pump fire in Daisy Hill,
28 October 2003.
Talbot M318NVU began life here before eventually
moving to Ramsbottom.
